“Banange kitalo nnyo. The trio of you, Allan and Kabuleeta inspired me into this job while you were working on Monitor FM in 2002. I told myself that I could try what you do, but since I couldn’t fit your quality, I thought I could do a Luganda version once an opportunity arose. RIP Allan,” wrote David Lumansi, a sports presenter.
“Very sad to hear the passing of Allan Simonsen Ssekamate… a versatile, brilliant sports journalist. Allan was a very knowledgeable in a wide range of subjects as he was in sports. And a gentle soul,” wrote Joseph Beyanga, Ssekamatte’s former Monitor FM colleague.
“Worked together for many years at Monitor FM, later as his producer on 93.3 KFM. Hadn’t seen him for sometime, it’s a blessing working with Allan.”
Football journalist Ismael Kiyonga wrote: “A legend in his game has rested. You inspired generations especially on Sport On with Joseph Kabuleta and Mark Ssali. Rest in Eternal Peace Allan.”
Ssekamattee worked at Monitor FM (now KFM), Daily Monitor, and WBS TV (now defunct) where he presented a show called SportOn. He also worked for a shortlived newspaper called The Razor.
