It was a weekend of happiness for a staunch ally of opposition leader Dr Kiiza Besigye, as he made it official in a traditional marriage ceremony in Ntungamo.

Most people in Dr Besigye’s and Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) circles undoubtedly know Brian Batenda Atuheire. Some of his friends and colleagues in opposition refer to Atuheire as ‘unstoppable.’

Atuheire was stoppable in his quest to become the Kinkiizi West Constituency MP in the 2021 parliamentary elections. Ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate James Ruugi Kaberuki Niringiyimana who garnered 31,628 votes against the FDC candidate’s 1,404 votes in a crowded race that had attracted five candidates, including independent candidates Dixon Ampumuza Kagurusi, Gregory Mugabi, and Alvan Abarihamwe, as well as Spencer Kansiime of the National Unity Platform (NUP).

While he was stoppable in elective politics, Atuheire was unstoppable in his quest to find a wife to support him in the struggle against the Gen Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni’s regime.

Atuheire and his team, which included his long time friend in the struggle and Kampala Capital City deputy lord mayor Doreen Nyanjura Omutatina, were in Ntungamo District for an introduction ceremony at the home of the activist and politician’s lover named Patricia.

Also the Executive Director and co-founder of AIFE-Uganda, an organization pushing for biodiversity conservation, climate change mitigation and adaptation with the aim of improving people’s livelihoods and species diversity, Atuheire and Patricia are said to have been in a relationship for long.

This relationship has now led to marriage, and is inspiring other people such as deputy lord mayor Nyanjura who now says she might soon unveil her man. “… who knows I may also pick inspiration to make it official with Mr Struggle,” noted Nyanjura.

Nyanjura advised Atuheire to always help his wife in doing domestic chores. “Brian Atuheire Batenda aka Unstoppable, congs to you my great friend. I have no doubts, Patricia is in safe hands. Be that man that gives a hand to your wife when it comes to domestic chores,” wrote the deputy lord mayor.

The other notable friend of Atuheire who travelled to Ntungamo to witness Atuheire’s function was senior police officer Jackson Mucunguzi, a longtime friend of the botanist, activist and politician.
