After dissolving the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), the party’s Katonga Road-based faction has written to reserve the name for a new political party. The new name will be the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF), according to a document seen by The Pearl Times.
People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) has proposed the symbol of a mobile phone. Its color will be white and royal blue while its slogan will be Freedom for All – All for Freedom.
Based at Plot 6 Katonga Road, the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) wrote to the Electoral Commission (EC) applying for the reservation of the name, colours, and symbol for the political party.
The application, filed on August 27, was made in accordance with section 6 and 7 of the Political Parties and Organizations Act. If the submissions are accepted, the EC will register the new party.
Former FDC mobilizer Ingrid Turinawe Kamateneti said the application for reservation of the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) name was “the first step as mandated and assigned by freedom Seeking Ugandans.”
Signatories to the application for the reservation of the name, colours, and symbol for the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) political party included Turinawe who was expelled from the FDC ahead of the 2021 elections. (See Details Here).
Other People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) signatories were Wafula Oguttu, B’ Leo Ojok, Albert Charles Okello Oduman, Stanley Katembeya Tugume, Sarah Bassima Ssengendo and Susan Nanyonjo.
The list of People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) signatories, according to the document see by The Pearl Times, also included: Ronald Samuel Wanda, Kenneth Geoffrey Opoka, Jane Nakasolya Lubega, Proscovia Kunihira and AnnMarie Mutesi.
When the FDC Katonga faction announced the dissolution of the party, Najjanankumbi faction leader Patrick Oboi Amuriat described the group as “dikuula” (The Pearl Times understands this to mean clowns).
Amuriat’s Najjanankumbi faction, which includes Nandala Mafabi, is accused of pocketing billions from President Museveni for FDC’s 2021 presidential campaign. Besigye is said to have refused to keep the ‘dirty’ money. (See Details Here, There and Over There).
