Democratic Party (DP) president Norbert Mao has dared President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni to tell Ugandans to walk to work if they cannot afford transport costs, then wait and see what happens.
Mao’s statement was in reaction to President Museveni’s recent advice to Ugandans to eat cassava if they cannot afford bread. (Read Story Here).
Some Ugandans quickly told Museveni that he was similar to Marie Antoinette, the last queen of France before the 1789 revolution, and others warned that the General from Rwakitura’s end could be near. (Read Story Here).
Now, Mao has dared Museveni to tell Ugandans to walk to work and stop complaining of high transport costs.
“Don’t complain about the war in Ukraine and how it has caused wheat shortage which has pushed up the price of bread. Just eat your cassava osilike!” said Mao.
“Now we all understand import substitution. I’m waiting for a statement like “why complain about transport costs just walk to work!”
In 2011, opposition leader Dr Kizza Besigye shook Museveni’s government with his walk-to-work protests over the high cost of living.
