Police say they have arrested a notorious criminal they have been hunting for a long time. The suspect has been behind several murders and robberies in at least five policing areas.
Uganda Police Force (UPF) spokesperson ACP Kituuma Rusoke says the suspect was arrested on May 9, 2025, at around 10:00 p.m., during an operation conducted in Bulamu Cell of Kasangati Town Council in Wakiso District.
ACP Rusoke identified the suspect as Alfadudu Imanantireganya, who is also known as “Congolese.”
“He is suspected of involvement in a series of aggravated robberies and murders across the Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) area, Busoga East, Busoga North, Elgon region, Ssezibwa, and surrounding areas,” added Rusoke.
He went on to reveal that as security operatives interrogated him, Imanantireganya Alfadudu “disclosed that he and his associates-identified as Mozy, Mapengo, and others-carried out robberies using a SAR rifle.”
“He further revealed that the weapon was typically hidden at the residence of Ivulungo Bumali in Girigiri Village, Maina Parish, Mpungwe Subcounty, Mayuge District, after their criminal activities,” the police spokesperson further noted.
Police followed this clues, and together with security sister agencies, went to Mayuge District.
As Imanantireganya told them, they found an SAR rifle in Ivulungo’s house located in Girigiri Village.
Also picked from the home as exhibits were two hammers, a knife, and jackets.
“Ivulungo and his wife were taken into custody to assist with ongoing investigations,” added Rusoke.
He also revealed that preliminary findings suggest that the recovered rifle was originally stolen during a robbery in Mukono in October 2024.
Days ago, robbers killed security guards at a petrol station in Mukono. (See Details Here).
