NABBANJA: Nobody Can Stop Me from Employing My Daughters in My Office

Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja has said there is nothing wrong with her employing her daughters in her office, saying she has a right to choose the team she wants to work with.

Weeks ago, news reports claimed that Nabbanja had employed her relatives, including biological daughters in her office.

Speaking at Wash and Wills Hotel in Mbale during a meeting leaders from Teso, Sebei, Bugisu, Bukedi and Busoga on the assessment of the performance of 22 districts on health, education and infrastructure under the prime minister delivery unit to improve service delivery, Nabbanja sought to set the record clear on the issue of employing her daughters in her office.

Nabbanja said her critics should realized it’s a new dawn and move on.

She added that existing legislations allowed her to come in with her team members who will leave once President Museveni relieves her of her duties.

“Those people you hear clamouring do not have contracts: Their contracts ended with Hon Nankabirwa as Government Chief Whip, their contracts ended with my brother Dr Rugunda. They had also found other people whose contracts were not renewed,” said Nabbanja.

“The law and policy is very clear, that when you come as prime minister you come in with a team and that’s why these jobs are contractual – five years. If I go, I leave with everybody.”
