Ruling NRM party national chairman and Uganda’s president Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni is expected to meet new MPs at the National Leadership Institute (Nali), Kyankwanzi.
The new MPs and NRM-leaning independents are at the institute for induction on parliamentary business and the party’s expectations of them in the House and constituencies.
NRM secretary general Justine Kasule Lumumba says the president will officially open the retreat on April 15.
The MPs-elect have been at Kyankwanzi for one week.
SG Lumumba says they have spent the week learning about NRM’s principles and ideology.
Museveni is expected to address “economic transformation” and “how to implement the NRM manifesto for 2021- 2026” when he meets the new MPs on Thursday.
During the same retreat, the party is likely to handle the issue of candidates for speaker and deputy speaker of Parliament.
However, some top party officials have denied the item is on the agenda.
