Museveni Honours Catholic Sister Nakampi who Saved His Daughters During Bush War Days

President Yoweri Museveni has praised Catholic Sister Nakampi for her role in hiding his daughters during the bush war days.

Museveni honored Sister Nakampi for opening her house for his daughters. He noted that Sister Nakampi worked closely with a one Father Sseguya to offer his daughters and others shelter in the difficult days.

So, Museveni, his wife and education minister Janet Kataaha Kainembabazi and their daughters made a visit to Mwera village in Mityana District on October 03, 2024, with the intention of appreciating Sister Nakampi for what she did.

Museveni talked of Sister Nakampi and her “invaluable support during our struggle.”

“She was not a soldier, but together with Fr. Sseguya, they allowed us to use their houses, and they also looked after our girls and some other people,” he added. “I, therefore, thank her for her legacy of resilience and support.”

Museveni also addressed locals, telling them not to shun government programs simply because they disagree with the ruling party of the time or belong to an opposition political party.

“It is important for all Ugandans to embrace government programs meant for wealth creation. Even if you are in the opposition, it is dangerous to discourage your supporters from participating in government programs and wealth creation,” he said.

“In the 1960s, I was a member of the opposition in the Democratic Party, but I was already preaching wealth creation in the cattle corridor. Therefore, that spirit must continue even today!”

Museveni and his family members had some narrow escapes during the bush war days. For example, Paul Kagame, then a rebel under Museveni, saved now first son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba and Museveni from being killed by Obote soldiers in Kireka. (See Details Here).
