Former Museveni teacher George Kanyarwanda is dead. George Kanyarwanda was a well known Ugandan educator and former local leader.
George Kanyarwanda breathed his last on March 03, 2026. He was aged 96.
His family members have been quoted as saying that he passed away peacefully while at his home in Karaaro Village of Kyeizooba sub county in Western Uganda’s Bushenyi district.
George Kanyarwanda is remembered for being a teacher to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the late Eriya Kategaya in their primary four class at Kyamate Primary School in present day Ntungamo District.
Apart from George Kanyarwanda’s teaching career at Kyamate Primary School, he also entered local council politics.
George Kanyarwanda served as the Chairman of Kyeizooba Sub-County in Bushenyi District, Western Uganda.
In 2016, Museveni’s government officially honoured George Kanyarwanda with a medal on Labour Day.
Museveni is known to reward some of those who helped him while growing up or those who save him and his family during the bush war.
Museveni previously honoured Catholic Sister Nakampi who saved his daughters during bush war days, as reported Here.
