MORE TROUBLE! Isaac Ssemakadde, Partner Named in Shs3bn Fake Gold Scam; Mzungu Investor Cries Out

Uganda Law Society (ULS) President Isaac Ssemakadde’s woes keep piling, and it looks like, once again, there is fresh trouble in his paradise.

Ssemakadde, and his law firm Maxim Advocates partner Sheilah Namahe Wagidoso are being accused of fraud by Robert Turner, an American investor and businessman dealing in precious minerals.

It is said that on November 13, 2024, Turner sent $840,000, currently valued at about Shs3.7bn, to  Maxim Advocates on its account held in Stanbic Bank.

The transaction reference number was IT24318UG01752271 and was meant for proforma invoice number GWM 11/2024 which indicated that the money was for clearing taxes, and for logistics for a consignment of 150kg of gold.

On November 14, 2024, reports show, a transfer of $750,000 was made from the Stanbic Bank account of Maxim Advocates to that of someone called Mohamed Abdi Rashid.

Turner did not get the gold. He lost all the money and now says he wants it back. The allegations against Ssemakadde, who has in recent months had trouble with the Ugandan state, have put him in the spotlight for the bad reasons.

A local television has even twisted his slogans at Uganda Law Society to title their report “Bang the Gold: Radical new gold scam.”

More details behind the scandal are expected to come to light in coming days. But Ssemakadde – seemingly a soft target by those who have been seeking an opportunity to punish him for his radical new bar plot – is already being accused of intimidating those seeking to expose the alleged fraud.

The scandal comes after twin sisters exposed secrets on how their relationship with Isaac Ssemakadde failed, in a case that looked like he had used and dumped them. (See Details Here and There).

Also, the fake gold scandal is just one of the many that have happened in recent years, with foreign investors being conned of billions. Months ago, shocking details emerged of how Ugandan fraudsters claiming to be Museveni’s close  relatives reportedly conned foreign gold investors. (See Details Here and There).
