ICT and National Guidance Minister Dr Chris Baryomunsi has lost the NRM Western Uganda Vice Chairperson Position to Jonard Asiimwe Akiiki, according to official results by the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission (EC).
Dr Baryomunsi has been the incumbent vice chairperson representing Western Uganda on the Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the NRM, having defeated Matayo Kyaligonza in 2020.
Now, another politician from the Bunyoro-Tooro part of Western Uganda has regained the position.
Eng Jonard Asiimwe Akiiki garnered 4,044 votes representing 53.9 per cent of the total votes cast while Baryomunsi earned the support of only 2,303 delegates.
Blaise Kamugisha got 339 votes.
Enoch Byaruhanga Barigye garnered 60 votes.
Lauben Bwengye Muhangi got 55 votes
D1ck Kamuganga Nuwamanya secured 49 votes.
Innocent Atuhe managed 11 votes while Michael Mawanda Maranga had no vote, according to the official declaration of results form signed by NRM EC chairperson Dr Tanga Odoi at 03:24am on Thursday, August 28, 2025.
