LOUD & CLEAR: Museveni Son-in-Law Odrek Rwabwogo Sets Record Straight on Running for President in 2026

Odrek Rwabwogo, son-in-law to President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni, says he wouldn’t hesitate to come out and tell Ugandans if he wanted to run for the country’s top seat in 2026 or any election year.

Months ago, a group calling itself ‘Odrek Disciples’ came out and expressed their support for the first son-in-law as a potential successor to President Museveni. (Read Story Here).

But Rwabwogo came out and denied having any ambitions to replace his father-in-law Museveni as president in 2026. (Read Story Here).

Yet rumors of him interested in the presidency have persisted as debate on a transition from Museveni, aged 77, to another leader continue.

During a recent television show, Rwabwogo said if he wants to run for presidency, he will come out and inform the nation.

“When I wanted to stand for a position in the NRM in 2015, I didn’t hide, I came out. I was open about what needed to be changed in the party. Mistakes, I mentioned; Solutions, I provided them. So, if I want to do that [run for president], why do I hide?” he wondered.

“I laugh at those who say such things. If I want to do something, I’ll come and say it.”
