Main opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) has released the lists with names of selected flagbearers for Busoga and Bukedi local governments.
The NUP flagbearers will compete with candidates of other political parties – including the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) – and independents in the 2026 general elections: local governments, parliamentary, presidential and special interest groups elections.
The lists released by the NUP Election Management Committee indicate flagbearers for positions like mayors, district chairpersons and councillors.
The lists with names of selected flagbearers for Busoga and Bukedi local governments include districts such as Kamuli, Luuka, Namayingo, Bugweri, Butebo, Busia and Kibuku.
More lists for other districts in Bukedi and Busoga are expected from the NUP Election Management Committee.
