Results for the municipality and city division mayor elections held on January 27, 2026 are beginning to trickle after hours of tallying. The municipality mayor elections were held in various cities and municipalities. In cities such as Kampala Capital City, Lira, Soroti, Gulu, Mbarara, Jinja, Mbale, Hoima, Fort Portal, Masaka, and Arua, there were elections for division mayors: Nakawa, Kawempe, Rubaga, Central Division and Makindye.
For municipalities like Ibanda, Mubende, municipality mayor elections were held.

We begin in Soroti City, as well as in the municipalities of Mukono, Mubende, Ibanda, Rukungiri and Sheema:
In Mubende District, results obtained by The Pearl Times indicate that Innocent Sekiziyivu, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) was declared municipality mayor-elect after getting 8,719 votes, beating Andrew Walubi of the National Unity Platform (NUP) with 4,108 votes, and independent candidate Denis Zziwa with 355 votes, according to results announced by returning officer Ferdinand Tumwesigye.
In Mukono, The Pearl Times can confirm that Robert Kabanda of NUP is mayor-elect of Mukono Municipality. Results announced by returning Officer Emily Amongin indicate that Robert Kabanda got 13,112 votes, beating Micdadi Mulimila of NRM who got 5,054 votes as incumbent Erisa Nkoyooyo, trailed with 2283 votes.
In Ibanda Municiplaity, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer Peter Agaba is the mayor elect after getting 14,279 votes. He beat independent candidate Innocent Mwine Bakamuhara who had 12,904 votes and another independent candidate, Sarapio Betungura, with 177 votes.
The Pearl Times has also confirmed that Boaz Kansiime Matita of the NRM, is the Rukungiri municipality mayor elect after winning with 5,759 votes beating Denis Ngabirano of PFF who got 5,126 votes.
In Sheema Municipality, The Pearl Times can confirm that Lukia Nakalisa of the NRM is the newly elected mayor after polling 12,492 votes, according to results announced by Sheema returning officer Pius Ahimbisibwe at Sheema Central Division Hall before midnight Tuesday. Nakalisa beat independent candidate Moses Basigaraho Bisweko who got 9,099 votes and Bravo Tumusingize who had 1,613 votes.
In Mbarara City North Division, we can confirm that independent candidate Gumisiriza Kyabwisho has beaten four challengers to retain his position. Kyabwisho got 8,183 votes.
In Soroti East Division, The Pearl Times has confirmed that the NRM candidate has won the election. The results we obtained are as follows:
The incumbent was FDC’s Paul Omer who chose not to seek re‑election after losing the Soroti City mayoral bid.
The Pearl Times can also confirm that Kamuli Returning Officer Kenneth Kayabwe has declared Fred Balinango of the ruling NRM as the winner of the Kamuli Municipality mayor election. Balinango got 4,472 votes, beating independent candidate Peter Kaluuba who got 2,310 votes.
