Schools from Kampala, Nansana Municipality, Mpigi, Mukono Municipality, Mpigi, Kalungu, Wakiso and Masaka City make the top 10 of Buganda (or central region) best PLE 2023 schools, according to a Pearl Times analysis of results from the recently released of Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) examinations done last year.
Two schools from the same owner, Yudesi Primary School (Kampala) and Yudesi Primary School (Nansana Municipality) have topped Central Uganda Buganda in PLE 2023.
This Pearl Times ranking of Central Uganda (Buganda) schools is based on the aggregate average score.
“To understand this ranking, imagine a district with only two candidates: one with aggregate four and another with aggregate 36. The average aggregate score is 20 four plus 36, then divide the total by two — the number of candidates. Simply: (04+36=40; 40/2=20),” The Pearl Times editor has previously explained the concept of the average aggregate score Here.
The top four PLE 2023 schools in Central Uganda (Buganda) have averages ranging between aggregate 5.4 and 5.8, which means that a good number of candidates scored between aggregate four and aggregate six.
For the top 100 Central Uganda or Buganda schools, the average aggregate score is 9.5.
The limit for this ranking of best performing Buganda (Central Uganda) schools is an average of aggregate 12, the borderline between Division One (First Grade) and Division Two (Second Grade). For emphasis, we are talking about averages of aggregate scores of candidates in schools or examination centres.
