The Education Service Commission (ESC), under the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES), has appointed about 300 teachers and non-teaching staff for jobs under the Uganda Intergovernmental Fiscal Transfers Program (UGIFT) for the Elgon seed schools.
The 300 teachers and non-teaching staff were picked from thousands who did aptitude tests and oral interviews for the same jobs.
These had applied for the same jobs towards the end of last year and the process of recruitment is still ongoing for other regions.
The schools for which the Education Service Commission has hired teachers and non-teaching staff in Elgon region (Bugisu and Sebei) include: Kaptanya Seed SS Kapchorwa, Kaptum Seed SS Kween, and Khabutoola Seed SS Manafwa.
Others are Lwasso Seed SS Mbale, Moyok Seed SS Kween, Senedet Seed SS Bukwo, St Mary’s Bugitimwa Seed SS Sironko, Nakatsi Seed SS Bududa, Namboko Seed SS Namisindwa, and Sisiyi Seed SS Bulambuli.
Each of these schools will have a headteacher, a deputy headteacher, teachers for both graduate and diploma levels (education officer and assistant education officer), a bursar, an enrolled nurse, a stenographer secretary, a laboratory assistant and a library attendant, according to information obtained by The Pearl Times.
Each school gets about 30 staff, both teaching and non teaching staff. All of these have been recruited by the Education Service Commission.
“The Secretary, Education Service Commission hereby informs candidates who sat for interviews between 10th – 16th June 2025 for the Uganda Intergovernmental Fiscal Transfers Program (Ugift) seed secondary schools under cluster 4, that results are hereby released,” noted acting ESC secretary Mohammed Kaaya in a statement for the release of interview results for appointed personnel.
“Appointed personnel should pick their notification letters in person from the Education Service Commission Registry on First Floor, Room 111, Farmers House at Parliamentary Avenue on Thursday, 17th July, 2025.
“Please come along with your original identification card. Those whose names don’t appear on the lists should consider themselves unsuccessful.”
