Janet Museveni
First lady Janet Museveni’s Ministry of Education and Sports, through the Education Service Commission (ESC), has released the names of teachers (graduates – referred to as education officers – EO and diploma holders or assistant education officers – AEO) as well as non-teaching staff like enrolled nurses, laboratory assistants, library assistants, stenographer secretaries and senior accountant assistants, shortlisted for oral interviews for government payroll jobs in seed secondary schools in Ankole and Kigezi regions.
The shortlisted candidates are those who will be doing oral interviews under Cluster 2 (Ankole and Kigezi), under the recruitment exercise for teachers and non-teaching staff for secondary seed schools under the Uganda Intergovernmental Fiscal Transfers Program (UGIFT).
The shortlisted candidates responded to ESC Advert No. 4/2024 published on December 23, 2024 for the posts of teaching staff or teachers – Education Officer (EO), and Assistant Education Officer (AEO); as well as Non-teaching Staff (NTS): Senior Accountant Assistant (SAA), Enrolled Nurses, Stenographer Secretaries, Library Assistants and Laboratory Assistants.
Those shortlisted for oral interviews were picked from the over 6,000 candidates who sat aptitude tests for the same jobs. (See list Here).
“The Secretary Education Service Commission, informs candidates who did aptitude tests under Cluster Two (2) (Ankole and Kigezi Region), that the shortlists for successful candidates for oral interviews, are hereby released,” announced Dr Asuman Lukwago, the permanent secretary to the Education Service Commission.
“Successful candidates will be subjected to oral interviews from Tuesday 15th – Friday 18th July 2025. Oral interviews will be conducted in KAMPALA at SESEMAT HOSTEL, KOLOLO SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL, starting at 8:00 am each Day.”
Dr Lukwago added: “Shortlisted candidates should come along with originals of their Academic! Professional Certificates and Transcripts, plus National Identity Cards. Candidates should endeavor to appear as scheduled; requests for rescheduling will not be accepted.”
He also made it clear that candidates whose names do not appear on the list should consider themselves unsuccessful.
Dr Lukwago also emphasized that candidates should know that services provided by Education Services Commission are free of charge.
However, during a previous recruitment exercise, there were allegations that each teaching payroll job was sold at Shs2m, which claims the Education Service Commission (ESC) broke silence on. (See Details Here).
