Western Uganda-based Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) has released the list showing names of students admitted on government sponsorship on the national merit scheme for the 2026-2027 academic year.
The list includes about150 students who will pursue various courses or academic programs at the university.
About 10 academic programs or courses were considered for the few slots available to the university under the national merit scheme of government sponsorship which is meant for best performing students.
Most of these are science, and technology or business related.
“Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) has released the List of Beneficiaries for Government Sponsorship 2026/2027, specifically featuring students admitted under the National Merit Scheme,” the university said in a statement releasing the list.
“This list includes successful candidates for our prestigious programs. We encourage all applicants to download the document below to confirm their admission status and review the schedule for the collection of admission letters. Congratulations to all successful candidates—Succeed We Must!”
Mbarara University of Science and Technology is one of about a dozen public universities in Uganda most of which are regional based.
The other public universities are Makerere University and its business school of MUBS, Kabale University, Kyambogo University, Muni University, Soroti University, Mountains of the Moon University, Gulu University, and Busitema University.
Every year, government sponsors up to 4,000 students to attain university education.
