LIST: See Names of Over 16600 Ugandans Shortlisted for Police Jobs

The administration of Uganda Police Force (UPF) has released the shortlist showing names of over 16600 Ugandans who qualified for interviews for police jobs.

The shortlisted candidates, 16678 in number, responded to calls for applications for the post of probationer police constables advertised in March 2025.

Uganda Police is seeking to recruit up to 10000 probationer police constables (PPCs). It is recruiting Senior Four leavers (those with a Uganda Certificate of Education – UCE) and even told Ugandans with higher academic qualifications not to bother to apply.

The requirements were as specific as candidates possessing a UCE certificate or its equivalent obtained in a sitting not earlier than 2020, with at least four (4) credits, including either English or Mathematics, and at least a pass in the other subject (for the traditional grading system).

For the new grading system under the Competency- Based Curriculum, candidates were required to have at least four (4) “C”s, including either English or Mathematics, and at least a ‘D’ grade in the other subject.

These shortlisted candidates will now go for interviews which are scheduled to commence on April 28, 2025.

Police says the interviews will include a fitness test, an aptitude test, an oral test, and a medical examination.

Shortlisted candidates have been reminded to go with the original national identity card, and original academic documents.

Also worth noting for candidates who have been shortlisted is that the interviews will be conducted at designated recruitment centers on the dates indicated.

“All shortlisted applicants are required to report at the respective recruitment centers by 0800/c,” police noted in a statement.

Police has previously indicated that all stages of the recruitment process are completely free of charge, advising applicants to refrain from paying any money to anyone for any services during the recruitment process.
