First lady Janet Museveni’s Ministry of Education and Sports, through the Education Service Commission (ESC), has shortlisted over 4200 teachers (graudates – referred to as education officers – EO), for aptitude tests for government payroll jobs in seed secondary schools in Bukedi, Elgon, Teso and Karamoja regions.
The over 4000 shortlisted candidates are those who will be doing aptitude tests under clusters 10,8,3 and part of 5,4 under the recruitment exercise for teachers and non-teaching staff for secondary seed schools under the Uganda Intergovernmental Fiscal Transfers Program (UGIFT).
The shortlisted candidates for clusters 10,8,3 and part of 5, 4 responded to ESC Advert No. 4/2024 published on December 23, 2024 for the posts of teaching staff or teachers – Education Officer (EO), and Assistant Education Officer (AEO); as well as Non-teaching Staff (NTS): Senior Accountant Assistant (SAA), Enrolled Nurses, Stenographer Secretaries, Library Assistants and Laboratory Assistants.
“The list for successful applicants who will be shortlisted for oral interviews will be published… at a later date. It will also include names of applicants directly shortlisted for oral interviews for different subjects in different schools under Clusters 10, 8, 3 and Part of 5, 4 whose applicants to subject ratios did not require Aptitude Testing,” said ESC secretary Dr Asuman Lukwago.
“All Shortlisted applicants must appear for the Aptitude Tests as scheduled and MUST come along with National Identity Cards.”
The schools include: Mugiti Seed SS in Budaka District, Sikunda Seed SS in Busia District, Muhura Seed SS in
Butaleja District, Akadot Seed SS in Pallisa District, St. Joseph Sop Sop Seed SS in Tororo District, St. Johns SS in
Kibuku Distict, Nansanga Seed SS in Budaka District and Lwolwa Seed SS in Tororo District, all in Bukedi Sub Region.
The seed schools in Elgon Region are: Sisiyi Seed SS in Bulambuli District, Kaptanya Seed SS in Kapchorwa District, Kaptum Seed SS in Kween District, Moyok Seed SS in Kween District, Nakatsi Seed SS in Budaka District, Khabutoola Seed SS in Manafwa District, Lwasso Seed SS in Mbale District, Namboko Seed SS in Namisindwa
District, St Mary’s Bugitimwa Seed SS in Sironko District, Senedet Seed SS in Bukwo District.
For Teso and Karamoja sub regions, the schools are: Alek Seed SS in Abim District, Loroo Seed SS in Amudat District, Kapedo Seed SS in Karenga District, Rengen Seed SS in Kotido District, Nakiloro Seed SS in Moroto District, Moroita Seed SS in Nakapiripirt District, Iriiri Seed SS in Napak District, Asamuk Seed SS in Amuria
District, Apapai Seed SS in Kalaki District, Toroma Seed SS in Katakwi District, and Olio Seed SS in Serere District
The Aptitude Test will be conducted at the three centers of Makerere University, College of Computing and Information Sciences, Kololo Senior Secondary School and Mengo Senior School on different dates as indicated in the lists.
Dr Lukwago added that ESC services are free, and that lists for other clusters will be released in coming days and weeks.
“The dates for conducting Aptitude Tests for the remaining Clusters will be communicated very soon. Those whose names do not appear on the shortlist under Clusters 10, 8, 3 and Part of 5, 4 should consider themselves unsuccessful,” he noted.
“All services by the Education Service Commission are free of charge.”
