NEW RDCs LIST: President Yoweri Museveni has announced the appointment of new Resident District Commissioners (RDCs), Resident City Commissioners (RCCs), their deputies and regional commissioners.
“In Exercise of the Powers conferred upon the President of the Republic of Uganda by Articles 99 and 203 of the 1995 Constitution (as amended); I hereby, appoint the following persons as Resident District /City Commissioners, Deputies and Commissioners at the RDC Secretariat,” Museveni said on August 19, 2024 as he unveiled the new RDCs list.
Most of the RDCs and RCCs, deputy RCCs and deputy RDCs kept their jobs but a good number of them were transferred to different districts of Uganda.
The lists indicate that the transfers and appointments were made on August 15, 2024, according to documents on the new RDCs list as obtained by The Pearl Times.
As at August 15, 2024, the following is the full list of RDCs, RCCs, deputy RDCs, deputy RCCs and regional commissioners:
The previous appointment of RDCs and RCCs, deputy RCCs and deputy RDCs was marred by allegations made by an NRM MP, claiming that officials in the presidency had demanded up to Shs20m for each RDC or RCC job. (Read Story Here).
Presidency minister Milly Babalanda did speak out on the matter, breaking her silence on the allegations that officials in her ministry had pocketed Shs20m for each RDC or RCC job. (See Details Here, There and Over There).
The appointment and or reshuffle of RDCs and RCCs, deputy RCCs and deputy RDCs comes months after Museveni appointed hundreds of assistant RDCs and assistant RCCs, increasing the burden of public administration on the tax payers. (See Details Here and There).
