The Education Service Commission (ESC), under the Ministry of Education and Sports, has confirmed in service and re-designated hundreds of teachers and non-teaching staff, The Pearl Times has learnt.
A total of 674 teachers and non-teaching staff were confirmed in service and redesignated, according to a 50-page list obtained by this publication.
Of these, 589 teachers and non-teaching staff were confirmed in service, according to a count done by The Pearl Times.
At least 85 staff have been redesignated.
These belong to several government secondary schools, seed schools and technical schools where instructors, assistant instructors, waiters, senior assistant accountants, and kitchen attendants have been redesignated.
The technical schools include Kisoro Technical Institute in Kisoro District, Kabale Technical Institute in Kabale District, Kitgum Technical Institute in Kitgum District, Kumi Technical School in Kumi District, Ora Technical Institute in Zombo District, and Ntinda Vocational Training Institute under Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), among others.
“The Secretary, Education Service Commission informs Teaching and Non-Teaching Personnel whose names appear in the lists below that they have been confirmed in service and others redesignate,” announced Mohammed Kaaya, the acting ESC secretary.
“The concerned personnel are requested to contact the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education and Sports for issuance of relevant letters.”
