The list of Ugandan university students returning from Iran today as war intensifies has been released.
On March 03, 2026, students who have been pursuing their studies at the Ahlul Bayt International University will be returning at 6pm, according to Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi, the Minister of state in charge Youth and Children Affairs.
Minister Balaam Barugahara added that this first group of university students returning from Iran is expected to arrive this evening at 6PM aboard Ethiopian Airlines.
“Efforts are ongoing to repatriate the remaining 53 students currently studying at QOM University Iran,” the minister added.
Barugahara saluted the Ugandan government and officials from Turkey and Iran for helping in the evacuation of students at Ahlul Bayt International University.
“I extend my sincere appreciation to H.E. the President of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, through the Office of the Permanent Secretary of the ministry of foreign Affairs , and our Embassies in Iran and Turkey for successfully facilitating the return of our young people who were studying at Ahlul Bayt International University,” wrote Balaam Barugahara.
“Thank you once again, Mr. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and all our embassy staff in Iran and Turkey for your dedication and coordination in this important operation. Viva President of Uganda.”
