A killer’s final message to Entebbe couple murdered after party has added a new string to the shocking details of the crime after detectives investigating the murder landed on a chilling audio.
The audio, captured by closed circuit television (CCTV) camera system, is being seen as a major piece of evidence in the investigation of the shocking death of David Mutaaga and Deborah Florence Mutaaga.
The couple, the Mutaagas, had just returned from Zurich, Switzerland where they had been living for over three decades.
On returning to Uganda, David Mutaaga and Deborah Florence Mutaaga hosted a party with their friends and relatives.
Hours after the party hosted at their home in Lugonjo, Nakiwogo Cell, Entebbe Municipality in Wakiso District, the couple was killed.
It is said that a masked intruder climbed over the perimeter wall and stabbed to death David Mutaaga and Deborah Florence Mutaaga.
Following the murder, police arrested Angela Nakalema and David Golooba, workers for the Mutaagas who did lived outside the couple’s residence.
It is said that Nakalema and Golooba left the Mutaaga residence at about 7:45pm before the couple was killed.
A police detective was previously quoted as saying that CCTV footage shows a person dressed in black climbing over the perimeter wall using an electric pole.
The person is question is also believed to have had good knowledge of the residence and attempted to dodge cameras.
Preliminary findings indicate that when the killer attacked the residence, David Mutaaga was sipping on wine. His wife Deborah was busy on her phone.
On gaining access to the home, the killer stabbed David Mutaaga in the cheat near the heart area. Dragging him outside the house, he directed him to open the the remote-controlled gate, available reports indicate.
The gate open, the killer stabbed David Mutaaga many other times until it was clear he was dead. The killer then climbed upstairs to Deborah Mutaaga’s bedroom, breaking its door and stabbing her, too, to death. Deborah had locked the door to her bedroom after watching the killer ending her husband’s life with such crudeness.
She had also called Angela Nakalema informing her of the attack, and requesting her to return with David Golooba. Deborah also used the time between her husband’s stabbing and the killer’s access to her bedroom to call a friend and a neighbor.
Done with the wicked mission, the killer left the residence, leaving David Mutaaga’s body lying lifeless at the exit.
Police say the couple’s mobile phones and money were left untouched. This is being seen as a key clue that the attack was not meant to rob the couple but rather to end their lives.
It is suspected that some family members may have killed the Mutaagas over an inherited property, which David Mutaaga reportedly declined to share with his siblings before he went to live in Switzerland.
The audio
The audio recorded by the cameras captured some of the killer’s final words to the Mutaagas before they met their death.
“Deborah, do you think it’s only you with children? We also want to be well off. You can call whoever you want, but I have come to kill you and nothing will deter me from fulfilling my mission,” the suspected killer was reportedly heard telling Deborah Mutaaga before ending her life.
Another ‘murder’ that recently shook Ugandans is that of a Ntare School student whose body was found dumped in River Rwizi. (See Details Here).
