Outgoing Rubaga South MP Kato Lubwama says Kawempe North MP-elect Muhammad Ssegirinya’s sickness is just a comedy stunt meant to make Ugandans forget about his academic papers so he can swear in as a legislator in the 11th Parliament.
Ssegirinya has for days been admitted at Kenya’s Aga Khan Hospital.
He was rushed to Nairobi after he left Kitalya Prison on bail.
Lubwama now says Ssegirinya is feigning sickness to divert his political rival Sulaiman Kidandala who is keen on ensuring he doesn’t swear in as MP.
“Ssegirinya is not sick. He is doing a comedy stunt to divert us from demanding his academic documents,” Lubwama told Spark TV.
“He is looking for an easy way to make him swear in next month. He is faking sickness. However much he feigns it, we will still demand his academic documents.”
But according to National Unity Platform (NUP) spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi, Lubwama is entitled to his opinion.
Ssenyonyi was optimistic that Lubwama would come out of hospital alive.
He added that the MP-elect had been admitted in ICU after his condition deteriorated but had since improved.
