Justine Nameere has been arrested in Masaka City, reports indicate. Nameere was arrested hours after swearing-in as Masaka City MP.
She was arrested men believed to be security operatives who were in plain clothes. It was not readily clear where the arresting security officers had detained Nameere.
The arrest is said to have happened at about 8:30pm on Friday, May 15., 2026. She was heading to Liberation Square in Masaka City when she was arrested.
Nameere had been driving through the city following her swearing-in ceremony at Parliament in the capital Kampala. She is one of the news MPs in the 12th parliament.
The driver of a Toyota Hiace, whose number plate was concealed, blocked Nameere’s convoy as the new MP’s supporters escorted her.
After blocking the convoy successfully, security officers in the Toyota Hiace directed Nameere to get out of the vehicle. She obliged and was driven to an unknown place.
Authorities were yet to offer details on the arrest of Nameere.
The arrest comes about two days since Nameere, who calls herself commander 001 of NRM new stock, told first son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) secretary general David Kabanda to stop his ‘kamanyiiro’ or undermining of NRM MPs after the Kasambya MP and Muhoozi diehard communicated the general’s directive that all PLU allies should withdraw their support for Anita Among over the Rolls Royce scandal, as reported Here.
On May 15, Muhoozi warned women against involving themselves in speakership issues, especially making statements that contradicted his.
“I advise some ladies to steer clear of some of these issues. It doesn’t matter how many times Mzee calls you. That doesn’t make you amount to anything!” wrote Muhoozi.
“I remember Winnie Karagwa being as excited as some of you in 1986.”
He added: “All ‘stock mpya’ [in referenece to Nameere] will be impounded by URA [tax collector Uganda Revenue Authority]!”
But Muhoozi said he had no problem with Nameere. “Leave Justine Nameere. That is my sister. I have no issues with her.”Â
To which Nameere wrote: “Oh my dear General Big Bro Asante Sana. I was offline for swearing in. Noise makers don’t know that in NRM primaries, mafias attempted to cheat me and your intervention saved my victory! In the General elections I was cheated but Mzee saved me! You continue to be ahead of hypocrites.”
But Kabanda told Nameere: “We shall remove you!”
Things have changed so quickly for Nameere and Anita Among, the woman she supports to retain the speaker job.
