JUST IN: Muhoozi Makes BIG ANNOUNCEMENT on Running for President in 2026

Ugandan first son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has made a major declaration on running for presidency, the country’s highest office, in the 2026 presidential election, setting the pace for the 2026 presidential contest that could see his father Gen Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni retire after about four decades at the helm of the impoverished East African nation.

Museveni’s only son Gen Muhoozi is just 48 years, having been born during the time his father was active in the struggle to bring down Idi Amin Dada’s regime. The president recently fired his son from his position as the Commander of Land Forces (CLF) of the national army, the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF). The firing followed a serious of careless tweets, including one in which the first son threatened to capture the Kenyan capital Nairobi within two weeks.

Muhoozi, who was dropped as CLF but promoted to the rank of General (the highest in the UPDF, remains a serving military officer but one who has been rumored to be in the queue to succeed his father Gen Museveni who turned 78 years last month. In recent years, Muhoozi has thrown hints on his interest in his father’s chair. For example, he has said that his enemies coined the so-called Muhoozi Project (one in which he would be helped to succeed his father as president, as alleged by former spymaster Gen David Sejusa — previously Tinyefuuza — in 2013), but that his generation had turned that curse into a blessing.

But Gen Muhoozi has now come out to reveal that he is interested in the country’s top seat. He said he wanted to be president so that he can repay his mother Janet Kataaha Kainembabazi Museveni, the country’s Minister of Education and Sports, and a former MP for Ruhaama County.

“My mother has always been an angel for me. She is simply perfect! Like most men feel for their mothers!” wrote Muhoozi. “The only way I can re-pay my great mother is by being President of Uganda! And I shall definitely do it!!”

Gen Muhoozi did not reveal if he will run for president in 2026 or 2031, but he recently made a shocking revelation about the year he will run. (See Details Here).

Muhoozi, the first son who is still his father’s senior advisor on special operations, also recently told Museveni that he will not quit Twitter nor stop tweeting about politics and security, defying his father. (Read Story Here).
