JOBS! Judiciary to Hire Over 100 New Judges – Starting from Supreme Court

Uganda’s Judiciary has announced it will soon recruit 100 new judicial officers, most of them judges, as the arm of government moves to improve delivery of justice to citizens.

According to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), which Article 148 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda gives the mandate to appoint judicial officers at various levels, the move to recruit more judges is meant to address staffing gaps in the Judiciary.

Led by Justice Benjamin Kabiito, JSC says it will soon advertise three positions of Justices of the Supreme Court, the highest in the land.

The Commission will also recruit 14 Judges of the High Court, Four Deputy Registrars and Five Assistant Registrars.

Also to be advertised are 33 Chief Magistrate positions, 10 positions Senior Principal Magistrates Grade One, 18 Principal Magistrates Grade One jobs and 26 Senior Magistrates Grade One positions.

“These vacancies will be filled in the 2021/2022 Financial Year,” said JSC in a statement.

The announcement on recruitment comes after JSC appointed 47 Grade One Magistrates.

These included Mugisha Muntu’s Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) youth leader Abubaker Matanda.
