Security minister and Rujumbura County MP Maj Gen (Rtd) Jim Muhwezi has been defeated in NRM CEC election for veterans league chairperson.
Jim Muhwezi lost to Lt (Rtd) Moses Mushabe in the elections for top leaders of the Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) led by President Yoweri Museveni.
Mushabe got 1,047 votes while Jim Muhwezi managed 570.
Mushabe currently serves as the NRM Chairman of Isingiro district and is a key leader in first son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU).

Jim Muhwezi conceded defeat to Mushabe. He will now concentrate on retaining his Rujumbura County MP seat and hope that he is reappointed a minister in the government running from 2026 through 2031.
Minister Muhwezi previously said that he will retire after the next term of office. (See Details Here).
