Director of Standards at First Lady Janet Museveni’s Ministry of Education and Sports, Dr Kedrace Turyagyenda, has clarified on reports of reopening schools to some classes.
An August 30 meeting of education sector stakeholders agreed to reopen school gates to Primary One, Primary Two, Primary Three, Senior One and Senior Two classes.
Although sources that attended the meeting have revealed that the reopening could happen as soon as September 09, Dr Turyagyenda has said there was no agreed date yet.
“The Ministry of Education has not decided that schools will reopen in two weeks,” Turyagyenda told NBS TV.
“I do not want to be conclusive on the issues of dates because they might change since the targeted teachers have not been vaccinated.”
Education minister Ms Museveni is expected to present the resolutions from the August 30 meeting to cabinet for a final decison.
