As she presided over the ceremony for the release of Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) 2024 results for both old curriculum transitional exams and those under the New Lower Secondary Curriculum, which is competence based, first lady and minister of education and sports Janet Museveni announced Senior Five selection exercise and reporting dates.
The Ugandan government’s education ministry has transitioned from the old content-based curriculum to the competence based curriculum (CBC).
The results released today, February 11, 2025, showed a higher pass rate than in previous years.
Assessment body Uganda National Examinations Board (Uneb) Executive Director Dan Odongo noted that a total of 350,146 candidates — or 98.05 per cent of those who sat the final national examinations for the NLSC last year — qualified for the award of the Uganda Certificate of Education.
A number of these will be expected to join secondary schools for their A-level studies leading to the award of the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE).
The National Curriculum Development Center (NCDC) under the Ministry of Education and Sports recently unveiled the new competence based curriculum for A-level.
A selection exercise for Senior Five will happen next week and students are expected to report for first term on the first Monday of next month.
“The selection dates for the Senior Five class of 2025 are 20th to 21st February. The first-term reporting date for the Senior Five class of 2025 is Monday, 3rd March 2025,” Janet Museveni announced.
