Iran’s Embassy Mocks Muhoozi Over Tehran Capture Threat

Iran’s embassy in South Africa has mocked Muhoozi over his Tehran capture threat. Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba is the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and son long serving president Yoweri Museveni.

Gen Muhoozi recently wrote that a UPDF brigade would capture Tehran within a fortnight. “It can’t take us more than 2 weeks to capture Tehran. A UPDF Brigade is enough for that job,” he wrote on microblogging site X, formerly Twitter.

“I hear our friends in Israel are looking for a division to capture Tehran. Personally, I think a division is too much. A UPDF Brigade would do the job quickly.”

Muhoozi’s somewhat bold social media declarations on the Iran-Israel conflict, particularly the claim that Uganda can “capture Tehran,” have sparked debate, with some ridiculing Muhoozi.

Muhoozi also sided with Israel on solidarity grounds and expressed Uganda’s readiness to enter the war to fight Iran.

“”We want the war in the Middle East to end now. The world is tired of it. But any talk of destroying or defeating Israel will bring us into the war. On the side of Israel! We stand with Israel because we are Christians. Saved by the Holy Son of God…Jesus Christ the only One who can forgive sins. The Bible says ‘Blessed are you Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the Lord? He is your shield and helper and your glorious sword.’ (Deuteronomy 33:29),” wrote Muhoozi.

“Israel stood with us when we were nobodys in the 1980s and 1990s. Why wouldn’t we defend her now that our GDP is $100 billion? One of the largest in Africa.

But some responded with concern that Gen Muhoozi was threatening a country that is far more militarily powerful than Uganda and one whose missiles would be difficult to stop if they started dropping on Ugandan soil, which is about 7000km away from Tehran.

Now, Iran’s embassy in South Africa has mocked Muhoozi, suggesting his comments were a matter of comedy fit for a talent search. South Africa is an ally of Iran.

“Ladies and gentlemen, the latest phenomenon to entertain you on Africa’s Got Talent,” the embassy wrote on its official X account.

Muhoozi is famous for brewing diplomatic storms online. Referred by some as a tweeting general, Muhoozi threatened to capture Kenya’s capital Nairobi within two weeks. His father Museveni apologized on his behalf. (See Details Here and There).

Meanwhile, Muhoozi has ordered the arrest of two top UPDF generals, as reported Here.
