Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Ugandan first son and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), has left some Kenyans talking tough after he claimed that God had urged him to forgive Kenya and not to invade the country.
Kenya is Uganda’s eastern neighbor. Under President Yoweri Museveni, Muhoozi’s father who has ruled Uganda for nearly four decades in a row, Kenya and Uganda have had relatively good relations, save for a number of disagreements in trade of products like food and fuel.
But a few years ago, then Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba who was serving as Commander of the UPDF land forces, threatened to attack Kenya.
Museveni would later apologize to Kenyans, including their president, with government saying the first son’s tweets should be ignored. (See Details Here, There and Over There).
Muhoozi has now said that God told him to forgive Kenyans and not to invade their country. He also said he had been impressed by the Kenyan army boss when they met in Mozambique recently.
“As for Kenya, Almighty God convinced me to forgive you guys. No more invasion plans,” he announced.
“On top of that I met my Kenyan counterpart recently in Maputo. He is a very sharp and impressive guy, I look forward to good relations from now on.”
As some of his usual supporters praised the first son, some Kenyans blasted Muhoozi, comparing Uganda to Kenya.
“Sir please keep your jokes aside, your currency alone is too weak to handle Kenya’s invasion,” wrote a one @Gachiie_ on microblogging site X, formerly Twitter.
Another one said: “Hey Museveni’s son, we don’t need your forgiveness. Keep going with your invasion plans, we’ll just whip that … of yours. And don’t count on your dad to save you, he’s too busy trying to stay in power for 30+ years.”
Yet another one told Muhoozi, “You… actor and attention seeker, before you cross Busia our forces will have taken all M7 Kongoni cows and milked them. Then we shall unleash Stivo Simple Boy to deal with you alone.”
When he first threatened to invade Kenya, Muhoozi was sacked by his father but promoted him to the rank a full general. (Read Story Here).
It is also not the first time Gen Muhoozi or his followers have claimed that God has told them to do or not to do something. In his tweets, Muhoozi normally confesses Jesus. His key mobilizer and junior minister Balaam Barugahara recently claimed God told Muhoozi would be president in 2026 but later changed his mind. (See Details Here and There).
