I WANT PROOF: Museveni to Investigate Prophet Samuel Kakande Miracles, Holy Water ‘Business’

President Yoweri Museveni told Prophet Samuel Kakande of the Temple Mount Church of All Nations based in Mulago Kampala at the mega church’s launch that he has picked interest in the investigation, monitoring and regulation of miracles of healing as well as businesses involving the sale of holy water and other articles.

Prophet Kakande claims that his Temple Mount Church of All Nations can host between 25,000–30,000 worshippers. When he went to commission the church on December 15, Museveni spoke his mind on claims of miracle healing and the need for verification

Museveni told followers of Prophet Kakande that it was his second time at the church that his government would institute measures for quality control of miracles with focus on verification.

“Coming to the healing, this is my second time here. When I came, I saw Pastor Kakande healing some people. Now I have come again. So, we are going to take interest in your healing. If you heal, the government is a quality controller. When they are industrial products, there is an organ called the National Bureau of Standards. For healing, there are professional health bodies which must be involved,” Museveni told Prophet Kakande and his followers.

“We must get those people, the ones you say were healed; we must check. If he comes, let us first get proof that he is sick. Don’t heal him immediately. Let us take the biochemistry, the blood, and other checks so that we know that he is sick, and then you cure him. Thereafter, we will praise you for the miracle.”

The president also questioned the holy water, holy rice and other items sold by prophets. “If it is free water, you take it. If you are healed, there’s no problem. But if you’re selling the water, that’s a business now,” said Museveni. “We are going to study that water to ensure it’s not harmful or dangerous.”

Museveni also emphasized the need for prophets and other religious leaders to stop the habit of discouraging sick people from seeking healthcare services and treatment.

“If you say ‘don’t go to the hospital, I will cure you,’ and then somebody dies or the condition gets worse, that would be another problem,” he said, reminding them of the challenges his government had had with the late Omukama Ruhanga Owobusobozi Bisaka of the Faith of Unity Movement.
