He’s in critical condition: ABS TV dismisses Pastor Augustine Yiga ‘Abizaayo’ death reports

Kawaala Revival Church and ABS TV have rubbished reports that self-styled pastor Augustine Yiga Abizaayo had passed on hours ago.

Reports had claimed doctors at Nsambya Hospital in Kampala pronounced the controversial man of God dead October 23 morning.

Yiga has in recent days been in hospital after suffering liver complications.

In March 2020, Pastor Yiga was arrested and detained for claiming there was no Coronavirus in Uganda.

Then, police said “the action of Pastor Yiga promotes the spread of the Covid19 and can therefore be considered as a direct attack on the people of the Republic of Uganda.”

But statements from ABS TV, for which Yiga is proprietor, and his Revival Church Kawaala dismissed reports of his demise.

“Pastor Yiga is still alive and kicking. Those who are saying that he is dead are doing it for their self interests. The man of God is well,” read a statement attributed to his church’s management.

“Those who want to meet him come to Revival Church Kawaala.”

ABS TV even claimed Yiga was “safe and sound.”

“Whoever is saying that Pr Yiga is dead, please and please stop; he is sound and safe – and thank you,” read a short statement from the station.

But other reports claimed that still alive, Yiga was in critical condition. He was said to have been admitted in Nsambya Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
