With results from elections of district LC5 Chairpersons and mayors already released and winners confirmed, let’s take a look at how much these local government leaders earn. The salaries for LC5 Chairpersons, mayors, speakers, and other local government employees are as follows according to the official 2025-2026 local government salary structure.
In the following local government salary structure from the Ministry of Public Service, the salaries of district chairpersons, city mayors, district vice chairpersons, deputy city mayors, district speakers and city speakers are included.
Also included are salaries of members of the district executive committees, members of the city executive committees, sub-county chairpersons, town council chairpersons, municipal mayors, city division mayors, municipal deputy mayors and city division deputy mayors.
Also included are salaries of municipal division chairpersons.
This list does not include the salaries of Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) whose salaries are way higher.
Local government salary structure 2025-2026 financial year
– District Chairperson / City Mayor: 2,380,000 UGX monthly, 28,560,000 UGX annually
– District Vice Chairperson / Deputy City Mayor: 1,190,000 UGX monthly, 14,280,000 UGX annually
– District Speaker / City Speaker: 724,000 UGX monthly, 8,688,000 UGX annually
– Member District Executive Committee / City Executive Committee: 620,000 UGX monthly, 7,440,000 UGX annually
– Sub-County / Town Council Chairperson: 412,000 UGX monthly, 4,944,000 UGX annually
– Municipal Mayor / City Division Mayor: 1,190,000 UGX monthly, 14,280,000 UGX annually
– Municipal Deputy Mayor / City Division Deputy Mayor: 620,000 UGX monthly, 7,440,000 UGX annually
– Municipal Division Chairperson: 412,000 UGX monthly, 4,944,000 UGX annually
