Here are the Requirements for Over 9600 UPDF Jobs and How to Apply

Uganda’s national army, the UPDF, will recruit a little over 9,600 officers (9,627 to be exact) into infantry forces. The recruitment exercise will happen from July 01, 2024 to July 14, 2024, according to army and defence spokesperson Brig Gen Felix Kulayigye.

“The exercise shall last for 56 Days including submission, verification of applications and final recruitment of successful candidates,” added Kulayigye on the duration of the exercise.

On the procedure for the recruitment exercise, Kulayigye said the aspiring candidates applying to join the regular force must get recommendations from LCI, LCII, LCIII, GISO and DISO.

“Thereafter, they will submit their application forms to the office of RDC where they will be registered and awaiting collection by the UPDF collection teams that will submit them to the office of Joint Staff Human Resource Management which will cause a shortlist,” he added.

“The list of successful applicants will be published/displayed on the District/City notice boards informing the shortlisted applicants to appear at designated recruitment centres for the final interviews.”

He went on to note that the recruitment shall be conducted using the projected population figures of each District or City of Uganda that forms the basis of recruitment quotas.

Kulayigye explained that the quotas for potential recruits are computed by the proportion of the population of each City or District of Uganda based on the updated population as of June 25, 2023 by the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS).
