Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has dragged Ofwono Opondo to the High Court in Kampala seeking court orders for the government spokesperson to compensate him over a alleged assault during a live television show last week.
Lukwago has sworn that he will not rest until Lukwago has been severely punished for what he did to him on NBS TV Frontline last Thursday.
With a case already filed at Kira Road Police Station, Lukwago has now filed a case in the High Court over the same matter.
“In addition to the criminal case opened up on Friday last week I have today filled a civil suit in the High Court against Mr. Ofwono Opondo for the inhuman and degrading treatment meted out against me. I will leave no stone unturned in pursuit of justice. Impunity must stop,” confirmed Lukwago.
“I cannot allow you to go unpunished for ‘punching’ me on TV as my children watched. That is why I have taken him to court.”
Lukwago has included three prayers in his suit. He wants court to compel Ofwono Opondo to apologize to him publicly for assaulting him and widely circulate the apology.
He also wants court to order the government spokesperson to compensate him Shs500m for damaging his reputation among right thinking members of society, among others.
