Ntungamo murder crime scene
A grandson to a murdered woman in Ntungamo has revealed shocking details in the crime that has shaken residents in the district.
The grandson was staying with the woman at the time of her murder. Following the incident, the grandson gave vital information that helped detectives to track down the suspected killers.
The incident happened in Mugwanjura Cell, Butare Parish, Ntungamo Sub County, Ruhaama County in Ntungamo District.
The deceased has been identified as Kedress Naekeree.
The grandson to the deceased revealed that he saw two men grab and strangle Kedress. He added that the same men hanged her body in front of the door.
“The deceased body was found hanging in front of her door and was staying there with a grandson, and according to the grandson, two men grabbed and strangled her, and later hanged her body,” police said in a statement.
Police also added that a police dog had assisted in tracking three suspects in the murder of the old woman.
K9 dogs have previously been hailed for their role in tracking suspects but concerns remain on residents tampering with the scenes of crime when such incidents happen.
The suspects include the deceased’s daughter in law who has reportedly revealed the names of the people that hatched and executed the plan to end the life of the old woman.
Two of the people the deceased’s daughter in law — identified as Mercy — revealed have so far been arrested and detained.
The other suspect has fled the area and is being hunted by police.
“Three murder suspects arrested with the help of K9 dog. When the police sniffer dog Yudah was introduced to the scene of crime, it picked scent and tracked for about 1km and moved to the house of Mercy, the daughter in-law of the deceased who was subsequently arrested,” police further revealed.
“Mercy has so far revealed other three accomplices, two of whom are in police custody and the other on the run.”
