Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, President Museveni’s son, has proposed firing squad for corrupt UPDF officers and government officials who have stolen Shs1bn and above.
Holding the most senior role in Uganda’s military, Gen Muhoozi says he is on a mission to uproot corruption out of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).
As The Pearl Times has previously reported, Gen Muhoozi has warned any individual or group with selfish interests such as corruption, misappropriation of resources, or mismanagement of any kind to reform “or leave our cherished UPDF before they are exposed.”
He has now proposed that UPDF officers and government officials who have stolen Shs1bn and above.
“For those who have stolen more than 1 billion shillings from the people of Uganda we shall put in front of a firing squad!” noted Muhoozi on microblogging site X, formerly Twitter.
The proposal comes as Gen Muhoozi ordered the arrest of Engineers Brigade Commander and other UPDF officers over corruption, as well as reports of the arrest of the brigade’s former boss over theft of billions. (See Details Here and There).
Meanwhile, Museveni’s government will spend over Shs200bn fighting corruption this financial year. Corruption fight is also one of the key things Museveni wants another term. (See Details Here and There).
