Dr Spire Ssentongo’s Brother Found Dead

Dr John Spire Kiggundu, brother to celebrated academic and activist Dr Jimmy Spire Ssentongo, has been found dead. 

The body of Dr Spire Kiggundu was found in Kitende in Kitende on the Sunday, June 22, 2025.

Dr Spire Kiggundu was the proprietor of Henrob Hospital.

Dr Spire Kiggundu’s death was confirmed by his brother Dr Jimmy Spire Ssentongo, a lecturer at Makerere University.

“I announce the sudden passing of my brother, Dr John Spire Kiggundu of Henrob Hospital-Zzana, heir to our father,” he announced on microblogging site X, formerly Twitter.

The circumstances and the cause of Dr Spire Kiggundu’s death are not yet fully public but it is said that he was last seen at Henrob Hospital on Saturday, June 21, 2025.

Other reports suggested that Dr Spire Kiggundu did not return home on Saturday.

Police was yet to issue a statement on Dr Spire Kiggundu’s death.
