DNA test
DNA results have continued to make Ugandan men cry like little babies – what with finding the children you have all along called yours and taken care of turning out to be another man’s (or other men’s!) That is the current situation for Ugandan politician and singer Mathias Walukagga.
See, until the DNA results came in, Mathias Walukagga had a number of children. But now, it has turned out that most of those he thought were his children belong to other men – and the ‘Abantu Bakoowu’ singer is heartbroken.
Walukagga has revealed that he took six of his children for DNA tests and was shocked to learn that only two were his. Of those who turned out not to be his biological was the one he always considered the first born.
This hitherto first born was in Senior Six and was staying with the man he considered his father until the DNA results came through to break Walukagga’s heart.
“In the first batch of six children I took for DNA testing, only two turned out to be my biological children: the rest, four of them, were not mine,” Walukagga, the Kyengera Town Council Mayor, told blogger Saymore.
“I called their mothers and showed them the papers showing the DNA results. I told them ‘here are the papers. Those who want to dispute the results are free to do so. We can do other tests.”
But the women told Walukagga, who subscribes to main opposition National Unity Platform (NUP), that they did not dispute the results but asked him to keep the results confidential and not to share them in the media.
The women Walukagga has over the years called the mothers to his children had a lot of fear and worry that releasing the DNA test results would negatively affect their public reputation among members of their families and communities.
Walukagga now believes that there could be so many men out their taking care of children who are not theirs, urging them to go for DNA tests. But he warned that one should be strong before going for DNA tests since there could be a lot of disappointments.
In recent times, men have been shocked by DNA results. A tycoon was left in premium tears after finding out that he was not the biological father to ‘his 11 children;’ a wealthy Ugandan man working in Europe was left heart broken after DNA results revealed that all six of his children belong to another man.
