Ntungamo municipal Health centre IV has been closed from public after a nurse tested positive of Covid-19
All the workers at the health center have been put under quarantine in their homes.
The nurse and her husband who works at Ntungamo district Local government also tested positive are among the results that were released from the samples tested last weekend.
Ntungamo district Resident Commissioner George Bakunda said the facility which serves Ntungamo municipality and the neighbouring counties will be locked out of reach by public for 14 days and fumigated before reopening it.
Ntungamo district Health Officer Dr. Richard Bakamuturaki said Ntungamo district has registered seven cases of whom three work at the district and four security personnels.
“We have managed to transfer the cases to Kabale and Mbarara regional referral hospitals for management,” Dr Bakamuturaki said
Dr. Bakamuturaki said they fear cases might increase as the district is currently having no quarantine center posing a challenge of managing contacts.
“Our only two quarantine centers were closed due to lack of funds to manage them and the opening schools for finalists”. Dr. Bakamuturaki said
Uganda has so far registered 11,557 cases with 7,351 recoveries and 101 deaths since the outbreak of the pandemic.
