CLEARED! Speaker Anita Among Challenger Hellen Akol Odeke Allowed to Run in NRM Election for Bukedea Woman MP

In a comeback, Mrs. Hellen Akol Odeke has officially picked her nomination forms to contest for the Bukedea District Woman Member of Parliament seat.

This comes after days of controversy and confusion that raised serious concerns about fairness within the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.

Just recently, Hellen Akol was denied access to the nomination forms despite having paid the required fees.

The NRM Electoral Commission Chairperson, Dr Tanga Odoi, had shockingly claimed that she was “not a party member,” dismissing her efforts and saying she had “wasted her money.”

This unexpected move drew widespread attention and sparked debate about the integrity of the party’s internal processes.

Even more troubling was the discovery that her name had been removed from both the national and party voter registers.

This strange and sudden removal caused concern among her supporters, who suspected foul play.

Acting swiftly, Hellen Akol filed a formal complaint with the NRM Secretary General—the official in charge of the party’s membership records.

In response, the Secretary General carried out a brief investigation and restored her name to the register, confirming that she was indeed a legitimate party member.

A certified copy of the voter register was issued to her, officially clearing the path for her to proceed with her nomination.

Supporters of Hellen Akol welcomed the development as a major victory for justice and fairness. Many had voiced frustration over what they saw as deliberate efforts to block her from participating in the race.

Her ability to fight back through official channels and have her rights restored has been seen as a sign of strength and determination.

This incident has raised serious questions about how internal elections are being handled within the party, and whether all candidates are being treated equally. The public outcry over Hellen Akol’s experience has highlighted the need for greater transparency and accountability in party primaries.

With her nomination forms now in hand and her name back on the register, Hellen Akol Odeke is officially in the race. Her supporters believe she represents not just a candidate, but a voice for fairness and change.

As the election season heats up in Bukedea, voters will be watching closely to see how the process unfolds and whether justice and democracy will continue to win.

Meanwhile, Anita Among, who is also running for a top NRM CEC position, has come under intense criticism after equating President Museveni to God, and first son Gen Mohoozi Kainerugaba to Jesus, which statements she has repeated, as reported Here.
