Education Service Commission Permanent Secretary Asuman Lukwago
The Permanent Secretary of the Education Service Commission (ESC), Dr Asuman Lukwago, has warned shortlisted teachers who began their oral interviews today, May 16, against offering bribes to any official promising to help them pass and land payroll jobs.
The ESC has today started administering oral interviews for teachers who were shortlisted in upcountry centres for Advert 2/2021.
Bribery allegations have on several occasions dogged recruitment exercises, including those for teachers. Now ESC Permanent Secretary Dr Lukwago has told applicants not to give any official a bribe in order to be treated favorably.
“Majority of you will be successful, so don’t panic, please DO NOT PAY money to any body who will claim to be an agent of the Education Service Commission. Wrong people will falsely claim roles when you succeed in the interviews, when actually it’s your capabilities,” said Lukwago.
“We had previously advised you to report such wrong people to our Team leaders( The Chairperson, Deputy Chairpersons, Members of the commission… with details to help us make immediate arrests, and preferably before any payment.”
The PS has reminded the applicants going for interviews not to forget their original documents.
Lukwago has also informed applicants who are ill to report to their respective boards so that their interviews can be rescheduled.
“If you are very sick, had a surgical operation, delivered by Caesarian section, or any health emergency, please send the medical records to your board. The ESC fully recognizes medical emergencies and will reschedule your interviews where there is evidence,” he guided.
The Education Service Commission recently released the names of teachers shortlisted for government payroll jobs. (See Full List Here).
