Court Orders Security to Unconditionally Release Muhoozi Kainerugaba Critic Kakwenza Rukirabashaija

Grade One Magistrate Irene Nambatya of Makindye Chief Magistrate’s Court has ordered police and other security agencies to unconditionally release novelist Kakwenza Rukirabashaija.

Rukirabashaija has been in detention following his arrest from his home in Kisaasi, Kampala.

His arrest followed a Twitter war of words between him and supporters of first son Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

Rukirabashaija’s lawyer Eron Kiiza has since claimed his client was tortured.

Now, Grade One Magistrate Nambatya has ordered for the unconditional release of Rukirabashaija.

In an application filed against Attorney General Kiryowa Kiwanuka, Rukirabashaija had sought his freedom following his arrest.

In her ruling, Nambatya ordered that “the applicant be unconditionally released from police custody” and that “every police officer should comply with the above order.”
