‘Besigye Girl’ Doreen Nyanjura Breaks Silence on Reports that She is a Lesbian

Opposition politician Dr Kizza Besigye’s diehard supporter Doreen Nyanjura Omutatiina, the Kampala Capital City Deputy Lord Mayor, has spoken out on reports that she is a lesbian.

Nyanjura, the Makerere Councillor, is an iron lady sharpened by Besigye’s defiance campaigns.

But most Ugandans do not know who her boyfriend or husband is. And the youthful politician, who is known for speaking the truth point blank, says she has been labelled a lesbian by some people.

Describing those making these allegations as “ignorant,” Nyanjura reveals that she has a lot more male friends than the females in her life.

She further notes that there is a wrong misconception that most feminists are lesbians.

Diving in the current Sheebah-Cindy war of words and the two singers’ looming music battle, Nyanjura defended musician Cinderella Sanyu aka Cindy the King herself, against those labelling her a lesbian for her feminist outlook.

Nyanjura also sent love to Sheebah Karungi aka Queen Karma.

Making it clear to all and sundry that she is not a lesbian, Nyanjura further noted that she has got used to the insults by those who revel in their ignorance.

She added that she was not about to stop her feminism, her gender activism and her gender scholarship.

“Roughly 98% of my friends are males, I have very few female friends, I hardly spend time with females.  I have however on some occasions been called a lesbian because according to some ignorant Ugandans, Cindy inclusive, Feminists are lesbians,” wrote Nyanjura.

“As for me, I don’t care what some of you call me, I have been called worse. I am immune to abuses, but one thing won’t change, I am a gender scholar, gender activist and a FEMINIST.  Love to Sheebah Karungi.”

It should be remembered that Uganda is currently in trouble with the World Bank over the country’s law against lesbians and other homosexuals. The World Bank has stopped funding Ugandan projects. (See List of Affected Projects Here).
