A scene of crime.
A private security guard with Pinnacle Security Limited has killed himself. The incident happened in the Central Division of Fort Portal City in Western Uganda.
The private security guard had been assigned to guard Bank of Africa’s Fort Portal branch office located in Rukidi III, Bazaar Ward of Fort Portal City’s Central Division.
It was discovered that the security guard, identified as Herbert Tumusiime, had ended his life shortly after he began his shift at around 6pm.
It is said that Tumusiime had arrived at his workplace and greeted his colleagues. He then gave his mobile phone to a colleague who had worked the daylight shift.
Tumusiime had reportedly requested this colleague to answer any incoming calls, especially those from his family members.
One of his colleagues has been quoted as dismissing claims that Tumusiime ended his life because of delayed salary payment.
A colleague said that Tumusiime had been paid last week, and that the company was not in the habit of over delaying salary payment since some workers who have no bank accounts can be paid via mobile money.
