Bad news for Bobi Wine as US president Joe Biden sends special message to Museveni, recognizes him as Uganda’s president until 2026

US President Joe Biden has sent a special message to President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni days after his May 12 inauguration.

President Museveni received the special message from US President Biden on May 18, according to senior presidential press secretary Lindah Nabusayi.

US Ambassador to Uganda Natalie Brown delivered Biden’s message to Museveni at State House.

Uganda’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Amb. Adonia Ayebare was present as Natalie delivered the message.

“The leaders also discussed regional and International issues,” added Nabusayi.

The special message means that Biden recognises Museveni as Uganda’s president for the next five years and is willing to work with him.

The implication is that the Biden administration might soon start paying less attention to National Unity Platform (NUP) and its leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine’s complaints of a rigged January 14 presidential election.

Washington DC might also review travel restrictions announced in April.

Biden has now led the US in joining world powers such as China, France, Germany and Russia which had earlier congratulated Museveni on his re-election and inauguration.

Some even sent delegations to attend Museveni’s inauguration.
