Police have blocked main opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party presidential candidate Patrick Oboi Amuriat (POA)’s campaign in Nakawa Division of Kampala City.
Amuriat and other FDC leaders like spokesperson Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda of Kira Municipality and Kampala Woman MP aspirant Dr Stella Nyanzi had briefly addressed residents at Naguru before police interrupted their campaign meeting.
Amuriat was blocked at Lugogo by-pass.
Police shot at his car, deflating its tyres.
A war of words ensued between his supporters and police, with the former insisting Amuriat must address his supporters.
There was also a scuffle as Amuriat’s supporters attempted to block officers from arresting him.
Police used teargas and spray to disperse the FDC presidential candidate’s supporters.
Officers and LDU personnel patrolled the streets to clear them of Amuriat’s supporters.
Amuriat was expected in Nakawa and Kawempe Division’s of Kampala City.
